Summary:
Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the program implementation, and ensures that technical and logistical management of the program provides the desired outputs and impact. Additionally, participates in efforts to develop new programs, as needed.
Specific Job Functions:
• Supports the development and provides functional support to deliver a culturally sensitive community structure for refugees in Sana’a, Yemen;
• Oversees the implementation of the community empowerment and self-management project;
• Manages activities of two refugee community centers and a team of ten community mobilisers;
• Coordinates and/or conducts capacity building trainings for refugee community leaders;
• Coordinates elections for urban refugee communities;
• Encourages refugee community participation in community affairs and promotes community self-management structures;
• Coordinates non-formal educational activities and other community based initiatives running in the community centers;
Essential Job Functions:
• Coordinates information campaigns where necessary;
• Liaise and networks with the community, partners and all other project stakeholders as required and directed;
• Assists in the designing and planning of project activities with the IRD country team;
• Ensures a community based approach and participatory methodologies in all activities;
• Monitors all project activities and results;
• Prepares internal reports for the project;
• Ensures technical, financial and logistical adherence to IRD and donor procedures;
• Coordinates with IRD administration department regarding procurement/deliveries within the program; supports delivery activities and attends deliveries for program;
• Assures the updating and maintenance of program files;
• Maintains a strong degree of cooperation with all program elements;
• Coordinates program implementation with local IRD Admin/Finance Officer;
• In the absence of the Project Manager, organizes and attends meetings as directed, represent the project and carry out other duties as necessary; and
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations or related field with 3+ years’ experience working on community service projects with refugees and / or working on capacity building projects.
• Fluency in English.

Preferred Skills & Experience
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Arabic, Oromo, Ogaden, and / or Somali.
