Outreach Nutritionist assistant 

Position based in Sa’ada Governorate

 

Position Summary:

 

Under supervision of Medical Referent and general leadership of Field Coordinator, the Outreach Nutritionist assistant will play key role in the planning and execution of community outreach activities for the MDM “Medical and nutrition support to the conflict-affected population” project. Outreach Nutritionist assistant will be working in close collaboration with other project staff, target local communities, and other third parties. Primary responsibility of the Outreach Nutritionist assistant will be effective implementation and reporting on project health and nutrition outreach activities in 10-12 target communities.  Outreach Nutritionist assistant will maintain rapport with participating communities; select, train, and continuously support and supervise community health volunteers; and provide direct preventive health and nutrition services to target population.    

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

• Assist Medical Referent in planning of monthly project outreach activities. 

• Participate in selection of participating communities 

• Facilitate selection of community health volunteer

• Assist with the development of training curricula and training materials for community  health volunteers orientation and instruction 

• Facilitate the delivery of training to volunteers

• Maintain regular contact with volunteers through visits to communities for ongoing support, training and monitoring

• Build linkages between communities and health facilities/primary health and nutrition service providers. 

• Collect information from community volunteers on specific health needs in the community (malnourished children, etc.) 

• Conduct OTP program in the targeted villages (admit new cases, give routine medication & follow up the cases.

• Together with community volunteers screen children for malnutrition. 

• Refer complicated SAM cases to inpatient program(TFC) 

• Conducting group health education on primary health care topics e.g. prevention of malnutrition, common infectious diseases, Hygiene, vaccination, etc.

• Collect and report health statistics to Med. Referent as required by the project information system

 

 

 

 

Profile:

 

• Midwife, Nutritionist or Medical assistant(Only Female)

• Applicant has to be from Saada Governate

• Experience in health community outreach

• Clinical experience - primary level health services (peri-natal care, vaccination, FP, health education) 

• Trainer skills; familiarity with participatory training approach 

• Previous work with an international humanitarian or development organization desirable. 

• Willingness and flexibility to work as part of a team and to assist other team members as and when required
