The Job

JOB TITLE : Mobile team - Medical Assistant/Nurse  

LOCATION : Al Madaribah district, Lahj governorate

REPORTING TO: Health and Nutrition Officer

OVERALL PURPOSE

Provide health and nutrition services (CMAM and EPI) as part of a mobile team according to national protcols

PROJECT OVERVIEW

To improve access to essential health and nutrition services to displaced population and acutely vulnerable communities in Yemen, with focus on Lahj governorate

FUNCTIONAL LINKS

INTERNAL: Health and Nutrition Officer, Project Manager, Project Officers, Project Assistants

EXTERNAL: Community leaders, IDP and host community families, Community Health Volunteers, and DHO

Responsibilities:

GENERAL TASKS  

  • Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence
  • Respect the Medair values at all times, both within and outside of working hours
  • Know, understand, and comply with Medair internal policies and procedures
  • Follow the Medair Security Plan and other relates policies and SOPs
  • Adhere to Medair Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) handbook and regulations
  • Respect the patient’s privacy and confidentiality

SPECIFIC TASKS

  • Screen every child under 5 by using MUAC and if required for admission into CMAM program, measure the weight and height to know the z-score
  • Admit identified children into the respective NUT program by filling the complete paperwork for SAM or MAM according to CMAM guideline and national protocol
  • Administer routine medication according to CMAM protocol
  • Give health education message to every caretaker before handing out the food and treatment
  • End of each week make a list of non-attendees and send message to CHV to follow up the child at home
  • Discharge children according to the protocol and minimum length of stay
  • Record every visit in the register book and the card for the patient
  • Provide expanding program immunization services through routine and booster vaccination to targeted children
  • Distribute mossi nets and soap according to Medair’s guidance and fill distribution forms accordingly
  • Send weekly pictures of the register and the distribution lists to the Medair office and fill monthly reports according to requirements of CMAM, DHO and Medair
  • Record every visit in the register book and the card for the patient
  • Keep hygiene rules at any time, wash your hands after each patient and use alcohol hand rub, wear a face mask during all consultations
  • Store commodities save and protected from direct sunlight
  • Ensure that the temperature of the vaccine carrier is according to national requirements
  • Any additional duties as requested by the supervisor

Diploma Degree of Medicine/ Nursing

CMAM and EPI training

WORK EXPERIENCE

1+ years of relevant work experience

Experience in working as part of a mobile team

Working experience with a NGO

WORK CONDITIONS

Position will be based in the Al Madaribah district.

Regular working hours will be 08:00 to 16:30 with 30 minutes for lunch, but may require flexibility as the work dictates.

SALARY: According to Medair standard salary scale

JOB COMMITMENT

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Fixed Term Contract

PLANNED START DATE: June 2021

TRAINING: As required

DURATION OF COMMITMENT: 6 Month
